We are happy to announce the launch of a special project dedicated to boosting the academic achievement of our local students. This initiative is a beacon of hope for the youth in our community, aimed at helping them do well in their upcoming G.C.E (O/L) examinations and beyond.
This project is specifically designed for 75 talented students from Grade 11 (the 2026 G.C.E O/L class) at BT/KK/Vantharumoolai Madhya Maha Vidyalaya. It is being implemented with care and dedication by the Sittandy Ilam Saiva Manavar Manram at the Swami Nadarajanthji Rehabilitation Organization in Sittandy.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Sponsors
We extend our deepest gratitude to “Our Society” from the UK for sponsoring this valuable project. We are also profoundly thankful to the generous donors, Dr. Arul Thurairednam and Dr. Mr. Arul Rajagopal, whose funding is making this educational dream a reality.
Why This Project? The Urgent Need
The last few years have been challenging for education, especially due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We noticed a decline in achievement levels among students in the Eastern Province. To address this, we first conducted baseline tests in six key subjects (Tamil, Mathematics, Science, English, History, and ICT) for students at the school. Based on those results, we identified and selected 75 motivated students who are eager to improve and succeed.
What We Will Achieve
This isn’t just about passing an exam; it’s about building a foundation for life. Our goals are both short-term and long-term:
Immediate Impact: We are conducting additional special classes focused on the O/L syllabus. By holding monthly tests and term assessments, we will continuously monitor progress. Students who need extra help will receive personalised remedial teaching to ensure no one is left behind.
Long-Term Vision: We are preparing these students not just for the O/Ls, but for higher studies in prestigious fields like Medicine, Engineering, and Law. We want to guide students from underprivileged backgrounds, providing them with the support they need to break the cycle of poverty through education.
How It Works
A dedicated team of teachers will guide the students through the Grade 11 syllabus with engaging lesson plans. We will be tracking progress closely, maintaining records, and even involving parents by discussing their children’s performance and rankings. The subjects being taught are Tamil, Mathematics, Science, English, History, and ICT.
Project Budget & A Call for Support
The project is currently budgeted at Rs. 88,000 per month, which covers honorariums for six dedicated subject teachers, essential stationery, and a clerk’s salary. We believe in transparency and efficient use of funds.
Additionally, to ensure a proper learning environment, we have a one-time requirement of Rs. 25,000 for essential furniture repairs and other equipment. Any support towards this would be immensely helpful.
There is no doubt that this project will bring a major and positive development to the educational landscape of our community. We are excited to see these 75 students grow, learn, and achieve great things!
Let’s wish them all the best in their journey!
